Diese soll Informationen darüber enthalten, ob kriminelle Hintergründe vermutet werden oder grenzüberschreitende Auswirkungen zu befürchten sind.
* Nach '''72 Stunden''' ist ein ausführlicherer Bericht fällig, der aktuelle Informationen, eine erste Bewertung, die Auswirkungen und gegebenenfalls Kompromittierungsindikatoren enthält.
* Innerhalb eines '''Monats''' nach der ersten Meldung muss ein Abschlussbericht übermittelt werden. Dieser soll eine detaillierte Beschreibung des Vorfalls, seine Klassifizierung, Schweregrad und Auswirkungen, sowie die getroffenen Abhilfemaßnahmen und mögliche grenzüberschreitende Auswirkungen umfassen. 
Neben diesen Verpflichtungen zur Meldung besteht auch die Möglichkeit, in Bezug auf Sicherheitsvorfälle, Cyberbedrohungen und Beinahe-Vorfälle '''freiwillig Meldung''' an das CSIRT zu erstatten.
